Which one has the roomiest third row?

On paper, the Palisade and the IONIQ 9 are neck and neck: 815 and 813 mm of third-row legroom, according to Hyundai Canada. The Santa Fe offers 761 mm, about 5 cm less. The same pattern holds for shoulder room: 1,412 mm in the Palisade, 1,398 mm in the IONIQ 9, 1,360 mm in the Santa Fe.
Our take: the Santa Fe works very well with a third row used by children, or by adults on short trips. If teenagers or adults sit there every week, the Palisade or the IONIQ 9 makes the ride more comfortable. The best way to know is to sit there yourself during the test drive.

Six, seven or eight seats?
- Santa Fe:seven seats on the Preferred, Preferred with Trend Package and Luxury Hybrid trims; six seats, with second-row captain's chairs, on the Ultimate Hybrid Calligraphy.
- Palisade:eight seats on the Preferred Trend; seven seats on the XRT Pro and the Ultimate Calligraphy trims; the Luxury Hybrid comes with eight seats at $63,821 (as of )or with seven seats at $64,321 (as of ).
- IONIQ 9:seven seats on four trims; six seats with the Ultimate Calligraphy Package.
Hybrid, V6 or electric: which one suits your driving?

The Santa Fe Hybrid uses the least fuel of the two gas models: 6.9 L/100 km combined according to Hyundai Canada. Nothing to plug in, nothing to plan. Its limit is towing, set at 2,000 lb.
The Palisade gives you the choice. The V6 tows up to 5,000 lb; the hybrid, more powerful with 329 combined hp, uses 8.1 L/100 km combined and tows 4,000 lb. For a family that drives a lot and tows a light travel trailer, the hybrid is often the best compromise. For a heavier trailer, it is the V6.
The IONIQ 9 needs a charger where you park overnight. With one, you can forget about gas stations: 9 h 40 min of charging on a Level 2 charging station, according to Hyundai Canada. Without one, it complicates life, especially in winter. Its trims are detailed in our IONIQ 9 trim comparison.
On the lot on October 4, 2026, according to our online inventory: 6 Santa Fes, including 3 from the 2027 model year, 6 Palisades, including 3 from the 2027 model year, and 3 IONIQ 9s. See the Santa Fes in stock, the Palisades or the IONIQ 9s.
