New Hyundai vehicles in stock in Magog

Choose your vehicle and we'll work out your financing.

1 / 1

How many months should you finance a new Hyundai over?

The tool on our model pages offers 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 84 and 96-month financing, and each term shows its own rate. The right choice is often the shortest term whose payment still leaves some room in your budget.

A longer loan spreads out the repayment, which lowers the payment. But you pay interest for longer, and the rate for that term may be higher: compare both numbers, not just the payment.

24 to 36 months

You want to be done with the loan quickly and pay as little interest as possible.

Watch out: This is the highest payment, so keep some room for the unexpected.

48 to 60 months

You want a balance between the payment and the total cost.

Watch out: Compare the rate for each term: it doesn't always rise at the same pace.

72 to 96 months

You need a low payment and plan to keep the vehicle for a long time.

Watch out: More interest overall. In the first few years, the balance can exceed the vehicle's value, so trading it in early would cost more.

A useful rule: avoid financing for longer than you plan to keep the vehicle.

Finance or lease: which one suits you?

Finance if you want to own the vehicle and keep it for a long time, with no mileage limit. Lease if you prefer a payment that is generally lower and like to change vehicles every three or four years.

That's the distinction Hyundai Canada makes.

Finance (buy)

Lease

What you pay back

The price of the vehicle, plus credit charges

The depreciation during the contract, plus credit charges

Mileage

No limit in the contract

Annual limit chosen at the start

Modifying the vehicle

Possible, but check the contract, the warranty and your insurer first

Best avoided: the vehicle is returned

Selling or trading in before the end

Possible, by paying off the loan balance

Fees generally apply to end a lease early

At the end

The vehicle is yours, with no further payments

Return it, buy it out or drive away in a new one, depending on the contract

Still not sure? Our Hyundai leasing: terms and mileage page helps you work out the kilometres. And if your lease is coming to an end, see Lease end and buyout.

Do you need a down payment to finance a Hyundai?

A down payment isn't always required, but it reduces the amount you borrow, and therefore the interest and the payment.

Whether a down payment is required, and how much, depends on credit approval.

In the tool on our model pages, the down payment is set to $0 by default. This setting is for running scenarios: it is neither an approval nor a guarantee that no amount will be required.

Key points

  • A down payment lowers the balance from day one, which helps if you might change vehicles before the loan ends.
  • Keep a cushion for the unexpected: emptying your account for the down payment, then putting a home repair on your credit card, isn't a saving.
  • In the tool, try the same vehicle with and without a down payment, over the same term, and look at the difference.

How does my trade-in factor into the financing?

The value of your current vehicle reduces the amount to finance, once its balance is paid off. If your car is still financed, only the difference between its value and what you owe works in your favour.

  1. 1

Get your vehicle appraised. The online appraisal gives a preliminary estimate, confirmed after an inspection.

  2. 2

Check your balance with your current lender. On the day of the transaction, that is the amount that will be paid off.

  3. 3

Do the math. Value higher than the balance: the difference reduces your new financing. Balance higher than the value: the gap can be added to the new loan, which means you're financing part of your old vehicle. Ask to see that amount in writing.

Before you sign, ask to see clearly the trade-in value granted, the balance paid to your lender and the amount actually applied to the new financing.

What Hyundai financing rate can you expect?

The rate depends on the model, the trim, the term, the Hyundai programs in effect that month and your credit approval.

There's no single rate: it depends on the vehicle, the term and the current offer.

To see current rates on the Hyundai you're interested in:

  1. 1

Open the model page, for example the 2026 Tucson, 2026 Kona, 2026 Elantra, 2026 Santa Fe or 2026 IONIQ 5.

  2. 2

In the “Build & Price” section, choose the trim, then click “Calculate” and the “Finance” tab.

  3. 3

Compare the terms: each one shows its payment and its estimated rate.

Before comparing two scenarios, check the trim, the colour and the rebates applied in the tool: they change the amount financed. By default, the payment is shown before taxes (“+ tx”). The rate shown is an estimate; the final rate depends on credit approval and the programs in effect on the day you sign.

This month's financing offers, with their conditions, are on our Monthly promotions page. The full lineup: New vehicles.

What should you check in the contract before signing?

Read the credit rate, the credit charges, the total obligation and the payment schedule before you sign: they show what the loan really costs, not the payment alone.

  • The credit rate and credit charges. According to the Office de la protection du consommateur (OPC), credit charges include everything you pay on top of the amount financed: interest, certain administration fees and insurance premiums taken out through the merchant, among others.
  • The total obligation. The total of what you'll have repaid by the end. Compare it between two terms.
  • The payments. The contract must state their amount and due dates.
  • Added protection products. Extended warranties and protection products can be included in the financing. They increase the amount borrowed, so choose the ones that meet a real need.
  • The type of contract.Ask whether it's an instalment sale contract: the OPC describes it as a credit sale financed by the merchant, who generally assigns the contract to a financial institution. Two rules apply:
    • early repayment: according to the OPC, you can repay part or all of the amount owing before it's due, with no penalty;
    • ownership: the merchant, or the institution the contract is assigned to, remains the owner of the vehicle until the price and credit charges are paid in full.

Frequently asked questions about Hyundai financing

Can you pay off a car loan early?

Yes, when the financing is an instalment sale contract.

The Office de la protection du consommateur states that the consumer can then repay part or all of the amount owing before it's due, with no penalty. That's useful if you receive an unexpected sum or want to reduce your interest. If you pay the balance in full, the merchant or lender must give you a release, free of charge. Ask for your exact balance before making the payment.

Does Hyundai offer 0% financing?

It depends on the month.

Financing rates vary with the Hyundai programs in effect, the model, the trim and the term: a promotional rate is never guaranteed from one month to the next. To see what's available now, check our Monthly promotions or the “Finance” tab of the tool on the model page. The final rate always depends on credit approval.

Can you finance a new Hyundai over 96 months?

Yes, our tool offers terms from 24 to 96 months, depending on the programs available.

On the same trim, 96 months can lower the payment, but you pay interest for longer, and the rate for that term may be higher than for a shorter loan. Before choosing, compare the total obligation for two or three terms. Avoid financing for longer than you plan to keep the vehicle.

What documents do you need for a financing application?

Generally: a piece of ID, proof of address and recent proof of income.

Your advisor tells you exactly what to provide for your situation. A self-employed person may need to provide other documents, such as notices of assessment. Preparing your documents ahead of time avoids back-and-forth and keeps your application moving.

Will my financing application affect my credit report?

When possible, we start with a check that doesn't affect your credit report.

A full credit check may be needed for final approval by the financial institution. If you're shopping elsewhere at the same time, ask each lender before they pull your file. Your advisor will tell you when the full check will be done.

How can I estimate my monthly payment on a new Hyundai?

Open the model page, choose the trim in “Build & Price”, then click “Calculate” and the “Finance” tab.

Choose the monthly view, enter your down payment and trade-in value, and turn on “Include taxes” if needed. Before comparing, check the colour selected and the rebates applied: they change the amount. The result is an estimate; the final payment depends on credit approval.

How do I reach Hyundai Motor Finance customer service?

If you already have a Hyundai finance or lease contract, your balance and payments are handled by Hyundai Motor Finance, not the dealership.

Its current contact information is on its portal, accessible from Hyundai Canada's official page. For a lease return or buyout, see Lease end and buyout. For a new purchase in Magog: 819 868-0010.
