On the Sonata, the trim determines the engine. The Preferred Trend AWD keeps the 191 hp 2.5 L engine and adds HTRAC all-wheel drive. The hybrid pairs a 2.0 L engine with an electric motor for 192 hp, with front-wheel drive. The N Line moves up to a 290 hp 2.5 L turbo engine, also with front-wheel drive.
For winter in the Eastern Townships
For hills and snowy country roads, we recommend the Preferred Trend AWD with good winter tires: it’s the only Sonata with all-wheel drive. The hybrid and N Line have front-wheel drive; with winter tires, they are suited to maintained roads. Ground clearance is 135 mm on all three trims: it’s a sedan, not an SUV.
