What changes with the new 2027 Tucson
It is an all-new generation, the fifth. Hyundai unveiled it for North America on October 1st, 2026. The “Art of Steel” design turns its back on the current model's curves: flat flanks, squared-off fenders, a horizontal light signature front and rear. The table below compares what we know about the new one with the 2026 Tucson sold today.

Inside, the big change is the available 17-inch Pleos Connect screen, which Hyundai Canada presents as the largest in the compact SUV class. It brings an app store, an AI voice assistant and available built-in navigation. Hyundai Canada also confirms available ventilated front seats and a head-up display.
When will it reach us in Magog?
Hyundai Canada writes that the new generation will arrive in Canada in early 2027, with no more precise date for now. The trims, the equipment on each trim, fuel consumption in L/100 km and the Canadian price have not been published yet. We will not give you a guessed date: as soon as Hyundai Canada confirms the arrival and the pricing, we will update this article and notify customers who have pre-ordered before notifying anyone else.

The new one is tempting, but the right choice depends on your timeline. Here are the criteria we go through with our customers.
- You need a vehicle this winter.The 2026 Tucson is available now, with all-wheel drive on every trim. The new one is expected in early 2027.
- You want a plug-in hybrid.Only the 2026 Tucson offers one. Hyundai Canada is not announcing one for the new generation.
- You have a vehicle to trade in.Every month adds kilometres to your current vehicle. Having your vehicle appraisedgives you a baseline, whether you buy now or in 2027.
- You are after the best price.An end-of-generation model often comes with offers. This month's are on the Tucson monthly offer page. On the other hand, a replaced model looks dated sooner at resale: weigh that against how long you plan to keep it.
- The warranty.The 2026 Tucson comes with Hyundai's 5-year or 100,000 km comprehensive limited warranty. The new one's will be confirmed at its Canadian launch.

The new Tucson in detail
Dimensions: longer, wider, taller
According to Hyundai, the new North American Tucson measures 4,700 mm long (+60 mm), 1,905 mm wide (+40 mm) and 1,685 mm tall (+20 mm), on a 2,785 mm wheelbase (+30 mm). The doors open to 83 degrees. Hyundai Canada announces 41.7 cu ft of cargo room behind the second row, which it calls the best in the class; the fine print notes that this figure is based on development targets and will be confirmed at launch.
Powertrains: gas or hybrid
Hyundai's U.S. figures list a 1.6 L turbo with 184 horsepower and an 8-speed automatic, and a new-generation hybrid with 233 horsepower and a 6-speed automatic, able to tow 3,000 lb (1,361 kg), 1,000 lb more than today. The hybrid keeps the air conditioning, the heat and the radio running with the engine off, handy while you wait in a parking lot. Canadian figures, including fuel consumption, will come with the official spec sheet.
Cabin and technology
Hyundai is introducing its Pleos Connect system, built on Android Automotive: available 17-inch centre screen, app store, over-the-air updates and the Gleo voice assistant. In front of the driver, a slim 9.9-inch display. Climate and audio controls stay physical, and the gear selector moves to the steering column to free up space on the centre console. Some equipment shown at the unveiling is reserved for other markets.
What about the XRT PRO trim?
Hyundai also showed an off-road-oriented XRT PRO trim: all-terrain tires, 210 mm of ground clearance and a driver assistance system that controls speed on rough terrain. Hyundai is aiming it at North America, but Hyundai Canada has not yet confirmed it for Canada.
Safety
Hyundai announces a reinforced body structure, driver attention monitoring, an alert for a child left in the back seat and advanced highway driving assistance. No crash test results have been published yet.
